When it comes to appearances, one of the main concerns for women is their breast size. Women who have particularly small breasts may find it difficult to find well-fitting clothes or bathing suits, and may experience negative feelings regarding the size of their breasts. As experienced cosmetic surgeons, Dr.DeMercurio have helped hundreds of patients achieve an ideal silhouette through breast augmentation surgery. Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that is performed under general anesthesia and typically takes about one hour. During surgery, Dr. DeMercurio will first make an incision to gain access to the breast tissue. This incision can either be made on the underside of the breast, around the nipple, or under the arm. The placement and size of the incision varies based on the individual goals of the patient. After the incision is made, our surgeon will begin the placement of the implant. Implants can either be placed in front of, or behind the pectoral muscle. Once again, the surgeon will decide where to put the implant based on his expertise and the patient’s needs. After this is done, the incision is closed with sutures and the surgery is complete.
Breast augmentation surgery offers a number of cosmetic benefits to patients who are unhappy with their breast size. First, the procedure can help instill confidence in patients who have previously experienced self-doubt in relation to their breast size. A natural-looking increase in breast size can help patients feel more comfortable with the shape of their body. Breast implants also provide balance among the rest of a patient’s features, drastically improving the silhouette. Finally, breast augmentation surgery can add volume and shape to the breasts, making it a welcome option for patients who have experienced the effects of aging or pregnancy.
